Enough of the introduction, I'm sure it's riddled with grammar and spelling errors anyway. My first post is on a movie that I just saw a priview for, the movie is 'Swing Vote' and in my opinion it shows that there is something wrong with the educational system in the United States of America. From what I could gather, the movie is all about the presidental election hinging on one man's vote. They explained that there was some sort of error in the electronic voting machine so the man's vote did not count, which meant he got to vote again, and it just so happened that his vote would decide the next president.
Can anyone tell me what's wrong with this scenerio?
Anyone?
The problem is that the USA does not have a popular vote. Elections are decided by a thing called the Electoral College, this mysterious orginization has no obligation to follow the popular vote or anything else for that matter. If I was appointed a member of the Electoral College then I could cast my votes for whoever I chose to (assuming that they were qualified). In the event of an election with no clear winner, the election is decided by Congress. Wow, the whole point of the movie according to the priview is impossible and relys on a massively ignorant public. Now let's for a moment assume that the movie explains that the Constitution was radicly changed? Not one of the previews I've seen even suggests this, something that would have been nessessary if the execs didn't believe that the general public was ignorant appathetic.
But don't take my word for it, read it for yourself.
What is the Electoral College?
U.S. ConstitutionDoubt anyone will read this before the movie comes out, or after it for that matter. But at least I got this off my chest and that's the point of a blog isn't it?
it's possible there are ties in the electoral college, in his state, and in his district...
